In a span of two days, nearly five pounds of fentanyl were seized at two ports of entry in the El Paso sector, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

On Wednesday, a 51-year-old woman was stopped at the Paso Del Norte port of entry with 2.38 pounds of fentanyl strapped to her abdomen, CBP officers stated.

CBP officers also stated they stopped three more drug-smuggling attempts the next day.

On Thursday at the Bridge of the Americas border crossing, CBP officers stated they made two more fentanyl busts as a 19-year-old girl, tried crossing with .36 pounds of fentanyl hidden in the groin area.

Two hours later, a 31-year-old woman, tried to smuggle 1.37 pounds of fentanyl concealed inside of balloons were found in her groin area.

A few miles away at the Paso Del Norte port of entry, a 19-year-old girl allegedly tried to smuggle 21.29 pounds of methamphetamine and 58.64 pounds of marijuana into the U.S.

“These recent seizures show that there are no boundaries when it comes to drug smuggling,” said CBP El Paso Port Director Ray Provencio. “Because smugglers can be teens, adults or pretty much anyone in between, means that CBP officers must remain vigilant to identify and stop these threats.”

Authorities reported all these drug-smuggling attempts were initially alerted by CBP canines.

All four seizures involved U.S. citizens.

CBP reported that each suspect was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations for prosecution.
