Illinois’ student section, known as Orange Krush, has apologized for making disparaging statements towards Iowa’s athletic department and ticket office earlier this week.

Earlier in the week, the Orange Krush called out Iowa athletic director Gary Barta and the Hawkeyes’ ticket office for “cowardly” canceling their 200-ticket order for this weekend’s game.

However, it was later revealed that the Orange Krush had posed as the Illinois chapter of the Boys and Girls Club in order to purchase the tickets.

On Friday, Orange Krush acknowledged that error in judgement and apologized to Iowa.

“In planning the Orange Krush road trip, we misrepresented ourselves as another active charitable organization, which exercised poor judgement,” the statement reads in-part. “This was our mistake and for that we are truly sorry. We also should have never placed blame on the Iowa ticket office or director of athletics Gary Barta or called them out for cancelling the tickets.”

Here’s the full statement:

Orange Krush has been traveling to one away game each season since 2002. The organization says it hopes to continue the tradition in 2023-24.

Illinois and Iowa will tipoff at 2:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
