Richmond, Va. (NewsradioWRVA.com) - Police in Hardy County, West Virginia are investigating a crash Thursday night that killed three JMU students and critically injured two others. At least two of the students in the car are originally from the Richmond area.

St. Christopher's School in Richmond says that two of the students were in the car. Names of those killed or injured have been released by the Hardy County Sheriff's Department.

The accident occurred around 10:30 Thursday night and the sheriff's office says that the car left the road and struck a tree. They say that there were no skid marks and no indication that the car lost control before striking the tree. The weather was dry last night.

Tim Miller, the vice president for student affairs at JMU sent out an email to the JMU community just after noon on Friday saying that mental health support was available on campus for those who need it. The email also says that families of the victims of the crash have been notified.
