Man arrested after woman shot to death outside Butchertown food plant
GOOD EVENING. I’M VICKI DORTCH. DRAMATIC VIDEO TONIGHT FROM WLKY CHOPPER HD SHOWS POLICE SURROUNDING THE CAR OF A LOUISVILLE MAN WHO ADMITS TO GUNNING DOWN A WOMAN IN BUTCHER TOWN. WLKY RANDALL CAM IS LIVE AT THE JBI SWIFT PROCESSING PLANT WHERE IT HAPPENED. RANDALL, TELL US ABOUT THE ARREST. OF RICKY. POLICE SAY SHORTLY AFTER THE SHOOTING, THEY RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM A MAN WHO SAID HE HAD JUST KILLED SOMEONE AND WANTED TO TURN HIMSELF IN. AND POLICE SAY THE GUY USED IN THE CRIME WAS STILL INSIDE HIS CAR. WLKY NEWS CHOPPER HD YOU FLYING OVER THE SCENE OF THE CRIME? IT HAPPENED AT THE JBS PLANT IN BUTCHER TOWN JUST AFTER 3 P.M. A WOMAN LYING DEAD IN THE PARKING LOT. POLICE SAY A GUNSHOT WOUND KILLED HER. THIS IS THE ALLEGED KILLER, 58 YEAR OLD ADALBERTO FLORES REYES GIVING HIMSELF UP AFTER THE CRIME. HE CALLED AND WANTED TO TURN HIMSELF IN REGARDING THE INCIDENT. AND WE MET UP WITH HIM AT THAT POINT, THE HOMICIDE DETECTIVES DID. THE VICTIM HAS NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED, BUT POLICE CONFIRM SHE WORKED AT THE PLANT, ALONG WITH LORIS REYES, COWORKER WHO HAS DESCRIBED HER AS A NICE LADY WITH NO ENEMIES. SHE NEVER GAVE NO ONE PROBLEMS. SHE SEEMED READY, TALKED ENGLISH. SO IT WAS KIND OF LIKE FOR EVERYBODY WAS KIND OF SHOOK FOR EVERYBODY THAT, YOU KNOW, THEY SHOT HER, JUST PULLED UP AND SHOT HER. THAT’S CRAZY. GUNFIRE COULD BE HEARD DIRECTLY ACROSS THE STREET. ACCORDING TO A BUSINESS OWNER WHO SAYS HE HEARD SHOTS. WE WERE JUST WORKING UPSTAIRS AND HEARD GUNSHOTS THAT MAYBE A CAR BACKFIRING OR SOMETHING. NEXT THING WE KNOW, THERE’S A BUNCH OF COP CARS AND FORENSICS IN FRONT OF OUR BUILDING. POLICE SAY THE SHOOTING WAS ALL CAPTURED ON SURVEILLANCE VIDEO AND THAT LORIS REYES WAS SEEING DRIVING AWAY IN THE SAME CAR HE SHOWED UP IN AT METRO CORRECTIONS WITH JUAREZ REYES NOW IN CUSTODY AFTER TURNING HIMSELF IN. LAPD SAYS THERE IS NO ONGOING THREAT TO THE PUBLIC. THAT’S A GOOD THING, THAT THERE’S NOBODY OUTSTANDING IN THIS PARTICULAR INCIDENT. THE VICTIM DIED RIGHT HERE WHERE WE’RE STANDING. AND AS YOU CAN SEE, SOMEONE A COWORKER PERHAPS, IS SET UP A MAKESHIFT MEMORIAL HERE WITH SOME CANDLES AND FLOWERS ON THE GROUND. BUT ONE THING WE DON’T KNOW AND ARE STILL WORKING TO CONFIRM IS WHAT IS THE MOTIVE? WHAT WAS THE MOTIVE? I SHOULD SAY, FOR THIS SHOOTING? WE’LL STAY ON IT. AND WE’RE LIVE

Man arrested after woman shot to death outside Butchertown food plant
Police have arrested a man following a woman being shot to death outside of the JBS Foods plant in Louisville's Butchertown neighborhood. Louisville Metro Police Department said a shooting happened around 3:18 p.m. Friday in the 1300 block of Story Avenue, in the parking lot of JBS. That's across the street from the Butchertown Market building.LMPD said that the victim died from an apparent gunshot wound, and they are investigating it as a homicide. >> More local top stories here Police said the victim was an employee at JBS. LMPD gave an update around 6:30 p.m. saying that a man contacted them and turned himself in. Their homicide unit met with 58-year-old Edilberto Reyes at Metro Corrections.An arrest slip says that Reyes also worked at the JBS plant. In addition to that, police said they obtained surveillance footage that captured the shooting.In the video, police said the shooter was wearing the same clothing as Reyes when he left work before the shooting happened.WLKY caught aerials of LMDC around the time Reyes turned himself in. Police have arrested a man following a woman being shot to death outside of the JBS Foods plant in Louisville's Butchertown neighborhood.
