New Mexico State women pick up road win in WAC play

The New Mexico State women's basketball team beat California Baptist on the road on Thursday.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. –With seven seconds remaining, New Mexico State senior guard Soufia Inoussa hit the game-winner to give the Aggies a 62-61 road victory at California Baptist on Thursday.

NM State improved to 12-10 with their third straight win to move to 7-3 in the Western Athletic Conference and California Baptist dropped to 7-3 in conference play.

The Aggies won their third straight game and will host Grand Canyon at 4 p.m., on Saturday at the Pan American Center. Four Aggies found themselves in double figures with Sylena Peterson leading the way with 15 points scored on 5-12 shooting, including one made three. Ashlee Strawbridge matched a career-high in scoring after her 13-point outburst. Molly Kaiser nearly recorded her first career double-double, scoring ten points while grabbing a career-high nine rebounds.  The Aggies forced the Lancers to 17 turnovers in the game – the 20th time this season they have forced an opponent to 15 or more turnovers in a game. As a team, the Aggies shot 36.8 percent while the Lancers shot 42.4 percent.
