An American Red Cross blood drive in honor of 16-year-old Katrina Hutz is being held Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Manlius located at 408 Pleasant St.

In February 2022, Fayetteville-Manlius High School junior Katrina Hutz was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia.

She underwent four rounds of chemotherapy which suppressed her bone marrow’s ability to produce red blood cells and platelets, leading her to receiving over 55 units of blood products from volunteer donors.

Katrina wants the community’s help to give back the units of blood she received by donating at this blood drive.

All presenting donors will receive a free Red Cross t-shirt while supplies lasts. In thanks for helping keep hospital shelves stocked, all who come to give in February will get a $10 Amazon.com gift card by email, thanks to Amazon. Those who come to donate this month will also automatically be entered to win a trip for two to Clearwater Beach, Florida. Details are available at RedCrossBlood.org/heart.

For an appointment, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-733-2767.
