Since opening on a bustling Bay View corner in 2007, Classic Slice (2797 S. Kinnickinnic Ave., 414-238-2406) has offered Milwaukee mindbogglingly massive slices, delicious specialty pizzas with great names like “Meatallica” and “I’m Feta Up!,” an extensive selection of vegan and vegetarian items, gluten-free options, a downright awesome Detroit Style pizza, and one heck of a lunch special. Along the way, the 15-year-old pizzeria has established itself to be a pillar of the community, among the upper crust of Milwaukee pizza purveyors, and business that treats its employees well.

You’ll hear exactly none of that in a recently-posted “One Bite Pizza Review” of Classic Slice. Instead, you’ll see a three-minute video of Barstool Sports founder David Portnoy interrupting the business’ recent employee party—even going as far to pound on the windows to get their attention—and whining about the pizzeria’s decision to carry on with their scheduled staff event instead of dropping everything to fire up their ovens and prepare food for the “Saturdays Are For The Boys” guy.

Short of giving Portnoy his way, Classic Slice attempted to handle the situation that was suddenly thrust upon them as gracefully and respectfully as possible. He was invited in, offered a beer, and even given a box with a cookie in it…which he proceeded to open (eventually) and give a poor review to.

Instead of writing about this guy’s absolute absence of self-awareness, his utter lack of respect for others, his decision to tear down an independent business that somehow weathered a worldwide pandemic and was taking a moment to have a belated holiday party to thank its staff, and his audacity to release the visual evidence of his atrocious behavior as marketable content, we’ll just encourage you to order from Classic Slice. We’ve loved Classic Slice all along, but this makes us like them even more.
