UPDATE:  Missouri Health & Wellness announced around 10 a.m. that recreational sales have begun.

Shangri-La in Jefferson City is also selling recreational marijuana starting today.

You may be able to buy recreational marijuana in some Missouri locations as soon as Friday.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services announced Thursday that its Division of Cannabis Regulation will begin approving conversion requests Friday, after emergency rules go into effect.

The division began accepting requests for medical marijuana dispensaries to convert to recreational marijuana facilities on December 8, the first day they were able to submit such a request.  The state reports approximately 90% of those dispensaries submitted their request by that date.

DHSS has 60 days to approve or deny the requests, meaning February 6 was the first date recreational marijuana would be available to the public.  But the emergency rule now allows the state to approve those conversions as early as Friday, February 3.

Jefferson City’s dispensary, Missouri Health & Wellness, announced on social media Thursday that it was ready for the conversion and anticipated recreational sales would begin Friday.

Missouri Health & Wellness offers dispensaries in Jefferson City, Sedalia, Washington, and Kirksville.
