HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 16-year-old from Grand Rapids was arrested after allegedly stealing a blue minivan Friday morning, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle circling the neighborhoods with its lights off near Sentry Road and Woodfield Drive in Holland Township.
A caller reported that a person was seen exiting the back of a light-colored Jeep Cherokee and was checking doors on vehicles parked in several driveways, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies located the Jeep and a blue minivan leaving the area, investigation shows.
An attempt to stop the vehicles was made, but both vehicles fled the traffic stop, according to deputies.
Deputies chased the vehicles before ending the chase in the area of Byron Road and 48th Avenue, deputies said.
The blue minivan was found stuck in the snow near Byron Road where the 16-year-old was taken into custody, according to deputies.
The blue minivan was stolen from the neighborhoods near the initial suspicious vehicle phone call, the Jeep was not located, deputies said.
The 16-year-old, who's name will not be released, is being held at the Ottawa County Youth home on several charges related to the incident, according to deputies.
The incident remains under investigation.
