Tubing returns to Ferrettie-Baugo Creek County Park in Osceola, as seen in a prior year, but this time the park has new tubes made with canvas, plastic and handles.

Both Ferrettie-Baugo Creek and St. Patrick’s county parks will open for tubing on Feb. 4 as long as snow conditions permit. Hours for both tubing hills are from noon to 5 p.m., but forecasted temperatures above freezing could likely cause conditions to deteriorate through the day.

Ferrettie-Baugo is at 57057 Ash Road, Osceola, and St. Patrick's is at 50651 Laurel Road, South Bend.

New this year, the parks offer canvas-covered snow tubes with plastic bottoms and handles. Personal tubes, sleds and toboggans aren’t allowed.

Tubing isn’t recommended for ages 3 and younger. All participants must be able to ride independently on their own tube. The cost is $5 per person, plus the gate entry fee.

Meanwhile, cross-country ski and snowshoe rentals remain closed at St. Patrick’s because of poor snow conditions.
