This comes after an investigation into their handling of a domestic violence call hours before Aisha and her 6-year-old daughter daughter, Harper, were killed.

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) -- Two officers have been suspended, months after their response to a domestic violence complaint, after which a woman and her child were killed.

Dayton Police announced Friday that the officers, identified as Terrell Moore and Kathryn Santos, have been suspended for 160 hours and received written reprimands.

They also are scheduled to attend "extensive domestic violence refresher training and tactical training as it pertains to domestic-related calls for service."

Dayton 24/7 Now has reached out to the Dayton Police Department asking for an interview with Police Chief Kamran Afzal or other officer. They said they will not discuss issues regarding ongoing litigation.

31-year-old, Aisha Nelson, and her 6-year-old daughter, Harper Monroe, were both found shot to dead in their Burleigh Avenue home after a welfare check in June 2022. The now-suspended officers had responded to a call at the home just hours earlier. They spoke to Nelson and her boyfriend Dante Harris, who also lived there. Ultimately, no police report was filed and the officers left without taking any other actions.

Harris is accused of killing Nelson and Monroe, then driving to Alabama and shooting himself dead.

Nelson and Monroe's family in December announced a wrongful death lawsuit against the Dayton Police Department, Montgomery County Common Pleas Court and the City of Dayton.

On Friday afternoon, Michael Wright, the attorney for Nelson's family, criticized the city's 30-day suspension of the officers. He said, at least, Moore and Santos should be fired, after a "botched," "reckless" and "terribly handled" response to the domestic violence call.
