(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Classic coins, jewelry, and watches are just some of the items for sale at the state's unclaimed property auction.

More than 400 items will be up for bid during this month's online auction conducted by the Illinois State Treasurer's office.

“The online auction provides a perfect opportunity for people to explore and acquire memorable items for themselves or for others who will appreciate them as gifts,” said Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs, whose office oversees unclaimed property in Illinois.

“Because the auction is online, you can participate from your home or wherever you like.”

Once efforts to find the owner are exhausted, items that are unclaimed from safe deposit boxes eventually wind up in the custody of the state treasurer.

All of the items up for auction have not been touched by their owner in 10 years.

Some of the items for sale include a 1909 indian head gold coin and an 1883 Carson City Morgan silver dollar.

Proceeds from the auction will be held for the property's rightful owner. The auction runs between February 6- 10.
