Bill to restore voting rights to felons passes Minnesota House

The Minnesota House passed a bill Thursday that would restore the right to vote for more than 50,000 felons.

The bill passed 71-59.

Felons who have been released from prison, but are still on probation or parole would be allowed to vote under the “Restore the Vote” legislation.

Similar legislation is pending in the Senate.

Governor Tim Walz has indicated he would sign the bill if it passes both chambers.
