The defense team for a woman accused of a brutal homicide is calling for a delay in the jury trial.
The trial for 25-year-old Taylor Schabusiness was scheduled to begin on March 6th, but her attorney Quinn Jolly says his team needs time to look through a cell phone that was found in his client’s room.
The state granted a search warrant for that phone on January 30th.
Jolly also says his team needs more time to meet the burden of proof regarding her plea of being not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.
A motion hearing is scheduled for today to address the situation, and a competency hearing is scheduled for February 14th.
