A driver died Wednesday night after his car went barreling into two cars and then into a home in Cranston.

The renters of a two-family home at 712 Dyer Ave. are now displaced.

Cranston police are still investigating what caused the crash, but say there was no immediate evidence to indicate that speed or alcohol were a factor.

Guido Romano Jr., 73, of Cranston was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Romano was driving on Dyer Ave when he hit an unoccupied car parked in the breakdown lane and crossed the center lane. Romano then drove into the driveway of the home and hit a second parked vehicle before crashing into the house.

According to police, there were people inside of the home during the crash but no one was injured.

The woman who rents the home didn't want to speak on camera, but a spokesperson for the landlord said the two residents will be displaced for months. They've called the duplex home for nearly 16 years.

"I called Red Cross, and they gave them a 515 voucher to stay for four or five days and then we have to figure out where they'll go from there," said the landlord's spokesperson, Melissa Cullen.

The landlord is hoping to eventually put the tenants in a property they're currently renovating in Rolfe Square. The spokesperson says the insurance company is responsible for the exterior damage.

Residents on Dyer Ave said they're on edge after another deadly incident on the street they live on.

Although speed wasn't a factor in this crash, residents say the road is dangerous.

City Councilman John Donegan of Ward 3 told NBC 10 he feels strongly that the city must take more proactive measures to make sure Dyer Ave and Cranston in general is safer for vehicles, pedestrians, and those who live there.
