SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — The City of Syracuse Code Enforcement has declared Skyline Apartments unfit as tenants have been without hot water since Monday. A stop rent order has been issued for the property until the hot water is restored.
According to Greg Loh, the City’s Chief Policy Officer, the City of Syracuse Division of Code Enforcement has been in communication with the property owners, Tim and Troy Green of Green National since Tuesday to restore hot water at the apartments.
Tenants Larry Fuller and Janet Roshia say in the thirty years combined that they’ve lived in Skyline Apartments this has never happened. This basic necessity is just the most recent code violation to plague the troubled building rife with violence. That violence came to light two years ago with the murder of 93-year-old Connie Tuori in her Skyline apartment.
When Roshia asked the front office what was taking them so long to repair the hot water she said they responded with “we’re waiting for parts.” Fuller said all tenants received a letter on their door Tuesday stating that everyone must pay rent and no one cause a nuisance or they will be evicted.
Green National confirmed to the City that it secured a licensed contractor for repairs. The statement says Code Enforcement is in regular contact with Green National to ensure repairs are made.
