ONE PASSENGER REMAINS IN SERIOUS CONDITION. THE INTERSTATES HAVE BEEN SHUT DOWN FOR MILES FOR SEVERAL HOURS JUST BEFORE 130 THURSDAY MORNING. TRAFFIC CAME TO A STANDSTILL ON I-40, JUST FOUR MILES EAST OF CLINTON AFTER A SEMI SUDDENLY OVERTURNED ON THE ICY ROADWAY. SO IT’S REALLY THOSE SINGLE VEHICLE CRASHES. THEY CREATE CHAIN REACTION CRASHES. FIVE MORE VEHICLES CRASHED INTO THE SEMI. MANY OF THEM ALSO SEMIS. WE HAD A MULTIPLE SLIDE OFF COLLISIONS BETWEEN THE 71 MILE MARKER AND AT WEATHERFORD. AND BECAUSE OF THE SLOW DOWN ON THE TRAFFIC BACKUP THAT WE HAD I A SEMI STRIKE SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES. TROOPER SAY THE DRIVER OF THAT OVERTURNED SEMI WAS KILLED IN THE CRASH. A 35 YEAR OLD MAN FROM GEORGIA. HIS PASSENGER WAS TAKEN HERE TO O.U. MEDICAL IN SERIOUS CONDITION. AUTHORITIES SAY THE TEN OTHERS INVOLVED IN THE CRASH WERE NOT INJURED. THE DEADLY PILEUP IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION, BUT TROOPERS SAY WEATHER LIKELY PLAYED A FACTOR. IT IS PASSABLE, BUT IT’S A VERY DECEPTIVE AND IT’S VERY SPOTTY. SO IT’LL BE OKAY FOR A FEW MILES AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT’LL BE A BLACK ICE. A semitrailer driver from Georgia died in a multi-vehicle pileup Thursday morning in western Oklahoma. The crash happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. Thursday along Interstate 40 near Clinton. The overturned semitrailer caused traffic to come to a standstill on the icy roadway. Five other vehicles, many of which also were semitrailers, also crashed into the semi."We had multiple slide-off collisions between the 71-mile marker and Weatherford," Steven Cornell, with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, said. "Because of the slowdown and the traffic backup, we had a semi strike several other vehicles."Troopers said the driver of the overturned semitrailer was killed. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified the victim as 35-year-old Hassan Mousa of Stone Mountain, Georgia.His passenger was taken to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City in serious condition.Authorities said the 10 others involved in the crash weren't injured. The deadly pileup is under investigation, but troopers said the weather likely played a factor."It is passable, but it's very deceptive and it's very spotty," Cornell said. "So, it'll be OK for a few miles, and then all of a sudden it'll be black ice, which really causes problems because traffic is traveling at highway speeds. A semitrailer driver from Georgia died in a multi-vehicle pileup Thursday morning in western Oklahoma.
