A man wanted in Ohio on drug warrants was arrested in Fayette County after he was found apparently unconscious in a vehicle, fled when he was awakened by paramedics and threw drug paraphernalia in a trash can, deputies said.

Shannon Carte, 53, was taken into custody Thursday after an incident in Victor, according to a news release from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said they responded after receiving a report that two males were unconscious in a vehicle parked in a private driveway. EMS personnel and deputies were able to awaken the males.

One of the males, identified as Carte, tossed drug paraphernalia in a trash can before running toward Ansted, deputies said.

Deputies were able take Carte into custody and discovered he was wanted in Ohio on felony warrants for “dangerous drugs,” the news release said.

Carte was taken to Southern Regional Jail for his felony warrants out of Cuyahoga, Ohio, and is awaiting extradition.
