VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vigo County school students now have access to a new tool to address concerns they may have.

Today the school corporation announced a resource called Be Safe. It’s a collaboration between the school corporation and local law enforcement agencies.

Be Safe allows students to anonymously report online issues like safety concerns, bullying, or mental health struggles. Vigo County schools’ interim superintendent Tom Balitewicz says with social media bullying now goes beyond the school day.

He says that’s why it’s important to make reporting these issues easier.

“This would be accessible through a cellphone or through a chrome book and you don’t have to wait to report something now. You don’t have to wait until you get to school to report something,” Balitewicz said.

Balitewicz also says Be Safe puts safety resources all in one place. So it’s easier for students to find the appropriate agency for their report. For those interested in learning more about the Be Safe program, check out the website here.
