FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Two Fort Worth police officers had to be taken to the hospital after a jackknifing 18-wheeler struck a patrol car.

Officer Brad Perez says the cop was responding to a crash on I-20 at around 2:30 a.m. when his unit was hit. The officer inside managed to climb out just as another 18-wheeler started barreling his way.

Another officer ran to help him, putting them both in the path of a third semi. Both of the officers sprinted to the median and were able to avoid it.

The officers were taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated, but Officer Perez says they're doing just fine.
