Stolen vehicle crash disrupts major Mishawaka intersection

Several Mishawaka police officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Capital Avenue and Lincoln Way on Thursday.

Police say that it happened just before noon and that a stolen vehicle was involved.

That vehicle was reported stolen at Barnaby’s on Grape Road. The stolen vehicle was then spotted on Lincoln Way East and Byrkit Street.

A police officer initiated a traffic stop but the suspect fled, and pursuit was terminated.

A short time alter the driver of the stolen vehicle crashed into a truck at Lincoln Way and Capital.

Mishawaka Police responded to the crash including the officer that initiated the stop.

Police say the driver of the stolen vehicle became combative and taser was used.

The suspect was arrested.

Several Mishawaka police officers responded to a crash at the intersection of Capital Avenue and Lincolnway.

It happened just before Noon on Thursday.

Police on the scene are not releasing any information. At this point, it's unclear what caused the tanker truck and car to collide.

The intersection is partially open as police investigate.
