Sheldon, IA (KICD)– A Sheldon business was damaged Wednesday evening when a fire was found in the wall.

Fire crews were called to 104 North 4th Avenue, the home of Kamies Plumbing and Heating shortly after six o’clock where a small fire and some charred wood could be seen around a chimney pipe coming out the wall.

Firefighters were able to get inside and finish removing plywood, a process that had been started by the building’s owner, with others removing siding from the exterior to look for hot spots.

Highway 18 near the scene was re-routed for a short time to allow a hose line to run across from a nearby hydrant.

The chimney of a wood burner in the garage area of the building is believed to be the cause of the fire.
