WETHERSFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — A fire erupted overnight at a house on Apple Hill in Wethersfield, according to local fire departments.

The home was unfortunately destroyed by the blaze.

Fire departments first responded just before 1 a.m. on reports of a garage fire. When crews arrived, they said heavy smoke was coming from the garage and first floor of the home.

All residents in the building were evacuated before fire departments arrived, according to the Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department. Other emergency crews responded to the scene for assistance, including representatives from Rocky Hill, Newington, Cromwell, Berlin, and the Glastonbury Fire Department.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire. There is no information yet on what may have caused the flames or if any residents were injured or displaced.

Local and state fire marshals are investigating this incident.
