Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 1, at Sioux City East High School, senior Brady Wavrunek officially signed his letter to join the football program at North Dakota State University.

A constant threat on both sides of the ball, Wavrunek was a first-team All-State member and a first-team All-State academic member.

This past season for the East High Black Raiders, Wavrunek set a school record for single-season total tackles at 75.5, while also punching in a total of 12 touchdowns on offense.

"It's definitely a big opportunity," said Wavrunek. "That's why I took it. They have a great program up there, great lifting, great academics, so that's why I took it. It means a lot, it really does. I'm really excited to go play up there."

Along with his statewide accomplishments, Wavruneck was named the Most Valuable Player for the Black Raider program.

Moving forward, Wavruneck plans to major in engineering at North Dakota State.
