Columbus resident Matthew Grinstead-Mayle has a lot of different titles, co-owner of a barber shop, husband, father, and now "Survivor" season 44 competitor.

Grinstead-Mayle, a self-described "Survivor superfan" is one of 18 new "castaways" chosen to compete on the competition reality show.

The 18 "castaways" will be left in an isolated location, where they must provide their own basic survival needs and compete in challenges for rewards and immunity. The game is both physical and mental. Contestants will be voted off the island until only one "Sole Survivor" remains, winning the grand prize.

Grinstead-Mayle is a Pickerington native that currently lives in Columbus with his husband and son. He is the co-owner of Goodfellow's Tonsorial Parlor in Columbus.

"I'm not adaptable, I'm beyond adaptable," Grinstead-Mayle said in a "Survivor" press video. "I am a social butterfly through and through, and I will flutter through the physical competitions and all the strategy."

Season 44 of "Survivor" will begin with a two-hour season premiere on March 1, 2023.
