COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man who threatened to fly a plane into the Anheuser-Busch plant in north Columbus last year was sentenced on Tuesday.

A judge sentenced 26-year-old James Meade II to 36 months of community control. Meade must also maintain employment or be in an employment program and he cannot use social media or contact his co-defendant, Thomas Develin.

Develin pleaded guilty to making and selling ghost guns last year. He was also charged with making terroristic threats after anti-Semetic statements and photos were found posted by him on social media.

Meade commented on a social media app, Discord, saying that he wanted to crash a plane into the plant, adding, "I hope they got a terrorism insurance plan the day before."

Police were alerted to the threat after a woman came across the group chat posts and reported them to law enforcement and the Ohio National Guard.

Meade enlisted in the Ohio National Guard in 2017. He was most recently stationed in McConnelsville as an air defense battle management system operator, according to a spokesperson with the Ohio National Guard.

If Meade breaks any of the conditions of his community control or violate any law, he could serve up to three years in prison.
