Cleveland Teacher Named Extraordinary Educator

Amanda Price Celebration

BRADLEY COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A local teacher earned national recognition, being named a 2023 Extraordinary Educator. Amanda Price teaches at Taylor Elementary School in Cleveland, Tennessee.

She is the only teacher in Tennessee to receive the recognition this year, and only one of 30 in the country.

This honor is given to those who are model teachers for grades K-8.

After her recognition, Price’s class was rewarded a pizza party with cookies.

“Being a part of this amazing group of teachers is a humbling experience,” Price said.

She continued, “I am most excited to collaborate with others and to broaden my platform on which to share my testimony. I am looking forward to the priceless learning opportunities I will have and the connections I will make that will further my career in education.”

The Extraordinary Educators receive endless access to a network of peers across the county. This allows them to collaborate, connect and learn from each other. They are also given access to professional development opportunities from Curriculum Associates.

Recognized educators are invited to participate in the Extraordinary Educators Leadership Summit, along with other professional learning events.

Some qualifications for recognition are having taught for two years and illustrating student growth through formal assessments.

“Teachers are true rockstars,” said Emily McCann, vice president of educator community at Curriculum Associates.

She says, “This year’s Extraordinary Educators are no exception—they were chosen from hundreds of nominations and represent the best of the best. We are happy to recognize and celebrate Amanda for her amazing work in the classroom and look forward to providing her with ongoing professional learning and networking opportunities to help her continue to grow her craft.”
