ABILENE, Texas – Police are investigating after an Abilene ISD school bus was shot at with an air rifle Monday afternoon.

Just after 4 p.m., officers were called from the Abilene ISD stating that one of their bus drivers who was taking kids home from school on their normal route, was reportedly hit by some type of projectile.

The bus was driving in the 200 block of the Arnold Blvd., area when the driver said the bus was hit by some sort of projectile, possibly from an air gun.

Around 25 children were on the bus at the time of the incident. Children quickly told the driver that one student was hit by glass and was injured.

The driver stopped near the normal bus stop and the children were let off and reunited with family. Two juveniles in the area were questioned about the incident. The student injured was okay and had minor injuries.

The department is working with the school district to ensure the safety of students and believes this was an isolated incident. The damage appears to have been done by a BB gun type of air gun, according to officials.
