By Jess Harter Tuesday, December 6, 2022

Sin Muerte, a new vegetarian concept from the Instrumental Hospitality Group, has opened next to Matt’s Big Breakfast on the southeast corner of First Street and Garfield in downtown Phoenix.

  • IHG opened its first restaurant, Belly Kitchen & Bar, in Phoenix in 2020, and added a second location of the Southeast Asian concept in Gilbert in September.
  • Sin Muerte is Spanish for ‘‘no death.’’

The space: The 1937 Mission-style building once housed a funeral home.

The menu: Globally influenced vegetarian dishes, including smoked ratatouille, stewed Moroccan chickpeas with pita bread, and creamy mushroom pasta.

Open: 4 p.m.-midnight Sunday-Thursday, 4 p.m.-2 a.m. Friday-Saturday.

Details: 817 N. First St., Phoenix (map), 602-767-5600, sinmuerte.com.
