It’s just a few weeks until Christmas, but if you’re already thinking ahead to summer fun, Musikfest has some news you might like to hear.

Hitmakers Goo Goo Dolls and O.A.R. will headline the Wind Creek Steel Stage at PNC Plaza on Aug. 9, organizers announced Monday morning.

Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Wednesday for ArtsQuest members, and 10 a.m. Friday for the general public at musikfest.org

Formed in 1986 in Buffalo, New York, Goo Goo Dolls have broken records and influenced popular music. The group has garnered four Grammy nominations, and a dozen platinum and gold singles. It has multiple No. 1 and Top 10 hits.

Although renowned for its commercially successful 1998 single “Iris,” the band’s other hits include “Name” and “Naked” from 1995’s “A Boy Named Goo,” and “Slide,” “Black Balloon,” “Dizzy” and “Broadway” from 1998’s “Dizzy Up the Girl.”

The band continues to reach audiences and rack up platinum and gold statuses — including the recently platinum-certified “Slide,” “Black Balloon” and “Better Days.” Its hits have been covered by artists including Taylor Swift to Phoebe Bridgers and Maggie Rogers.

Multiplatinum-selling band O.A.R. (short for Of A Revolution) will join Goo Goo Dolls on the Wind Creek Steel Stage.

Formed in Maryland in 1996, the band has merged its musical DNA into a free-flowing sound and popular live shows. Known for hits like “Shattered,” “Peace” and “Love And Memories,” O.A.R. has sold out Madison Square Garden, Red Rocks Amphitheater and played the Special Olympics Opening Ceremony and the Times Square New Year’s Eve celebration.
