Man robs Bronx deli worker who wouldn't give him free food

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A man robbed a Bronx deli worker who wouldn’t give him free food, police said Thursday as they released images of the suspect.

The 35-year-old worker was at the Happy Gourmet Deli at E. 163rd Street and Sheridan Avenue in the Concourse Village section on Tuesday afternoon when the man came in around 4:30 p.m. and demanded free food.

When the employee turned him down, the man simulated a firearm in his waistband and stole $32 worth of merchandise, according to police.

The suspect was last seen fleeing down Sheridan Avenue on foot.

The employee was not injured in the robbery.
