SEATTLE — Detectives are investigating after two teen boys were shot in Pioneer Square on Wednesday night.

According to the Seattle Police Department, officers received 911 calls reporting gunshots in the 200 block of Yesler Way around 11:30 p.m.

An 18-year-old man and 13-year-old boy were shot in the leg and taken to Harborview Medical Center.

The investigation is ongoing. There was no information provided about a possible suspect.

The incident occurred near the Pioneer Square Link light rail station and City Hall, a crime-ridden area.

Robert Rodriguez, the owner of nearby Yellow Butterfly Coffee on 3rd Avenue and Jefferson Street, said he was cleaning when he heard back-to-back gunshots. He then saw a male limping and bleeding before Rodriguez called 911.

“You get frustrated,” said Rodriguez, who added that his coffee shop was broken into last month. “All the hard work that we put into the coffee shop. You think, ‘Ah, man, are they going to be afraid to come to the coffee shop?’ “I really don’t know what to do. I was thinking about closing a couple of weeks but I’m not going to do that because they win if we do that.

“It’s a little bit of happiness here. The music, the vibes, the colors, the art.”

Police are asking anyone with information to call the violent crimes tip line at 206-233-5000.
