A man and a woman died in two separate car crashes Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, according to Louisville Metro Police.

Fourth Division officers responded to a call about a vehicle collision at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday at Berry Boulevard at Georgetown Place, LMPD spokesperson Dwight Mitchell said. A woman who had been hit was pronounced dead at the scene, Mitchell said, as the department's preliminary investigation found she had been hit by a car while walking along Berry Boulevard.

The victim was identified on Thursday by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as 36-year-old Kristin Dalton. Deputy Coroner  Steve Moran said she died of blunt force injuries.

LMPD's traffic unit is investigating, Mitchell said. The people involved in the crash stayed at the scene, he said.

Several hours later at about 2 a.m., Mitchell said Second Division officers responded to a call of a person down in the 3400 block of W. Broadway. Officers found a man who had been hit by a car that was driving eastbound.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Mitchell said, and the driver left the scene. LMPD's traffic unit is investigating.

The man who was killed was identified later Thursday by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as 48-year-old Perry Ponder.
