In addition to Northern State's homecoming parade on Saturday, here are five other entertainment ad social events happening this week:

Star party: Friday at 7 p.m. at Kuhnert Arboretum parking lot, 2110 S. Dakota St. Event starts at dusk and continues until 11 p.m. There is no charge, but participants are asked to call the Parks, Recreation and Forestry office at 605-626-7015 to place their names on an interest list. This is a gathering of amateur astronomers viewing the night sky. Participants can take viewing equipment.

"Daughters": Saturday at K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library, 215 Fourth Ave. S.E., from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Sponsored by the League of Women Voters and made possible through South Dakota Humanities Council, this play looks at the stories of three women and the events leading up to the massacre at Wounded Knee Creek on Dec. 29, 1890.

Aberdeen Community Theatre Young People's Theatre presents "The Bible in 30 Minutes or Less": Shows are 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at Aberdeen Community Theatre, 415 S. Main St. Advance tickets are $5 and can be purchased online at AberdeenCommunityTheatre.com, at Riddle's Jewelry or by calling 605-225-8222. Tickets purchased the day of the show are $8. This energetic and hilarious play opens with the book of Genesis and cruises right through to the book of Revelations.

Young People's Theatre production "The Bible in 30 Minutes ... or Less!" has performances Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Capitol Theatre, 415 S. Main Street. The show features the talents of more than 20 young people in the cast and crew. Led by an ambitious narrator, the play opens with the book of Genesis and speeds all the way through to the book of Revelation. Pictured are, left, God (Jillian Jung) and Satan (Halle Buckhouse) who watch as Adam (Sam Rife) and Eve (Amelia Martin) consider the temptation of the apple in the Garden of Eden.

German-themed fall supper: Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at United Church of Christ Fellowship Hall in Ipswich. Featured food includes Knoepfle, sausage, sauerkraut, potatoes/vegetables and a kuchen bar. Sponsored by the Ipswich Flower and Garden Club. Donations accepted to support the upkeep of Pioneer Village.

Songs an stories of the American West: Tuesday at 7 p.m. at K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library. Join Aspen Black and Kerry Grombacher for a foot-stomping, toe-tapping good time as they perform music that spans folk, country, cowboy, blues and Western Americana.
