Did you miss it? Enjoy Oktoberfest in Lake Worth Beach for second weekend of fun

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

No, not Christmas.

That over commercialized holiday, with goofy sweaters, re-gifts, gift cards, dried out turkey, jellied cranberry loaf and fruitcake has got nothing on this one. This is the tippy top of celebrations. That's right it's time for Oktoberfest!

We're talking schnitzel, goulasch, Thüringer bratwurst, leberkase, pickled herring and so much more.

And to wash it down? Beer. Best in the world, German beer by the stein-ful.

So ladies time to don those dirndls and men find your lederhosen, because the American-German Club of the Palm Beaches is gearing up for Oktoberfest.

This Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the club will be putting on their 48th Oktoberfest celebration.

This year will feature music by the The Kläberheads.

The German American Club of the Palm Beaches will hold their 48th Oktoberfest this Friday, Saturday and Sunday and Oct. 14 to 16.

In addition to all-around great German music, the Jammin Germans specialize in authentic Bavarian Schuhplattling (German shoe-slap dancing), Tyrolian cow-bell ringing, and yodeling and numerous other audience participation specialties.

The Klaberheads, from Hamilton, Ohio, are an American version of a Munich Oktoberfest tent band — lots of musicians, tons of energy. They will be bringing toe-tapping polkas, big band sounds and overall will help lead the charge into good times.

In addition, there will be performances by the Black Thorne Pipe Band, folk dancing performances by the AGC Volkstanzgruppe, the parade of flags and beer keg tapping.

Oh yeah, beer.

This year, expect  beers by Paulaner including Oktoberfest, Hefe-Weizen, Oktoberfest Marzen and Pilsner. There will also be two beers by Hacker-Pschorr including their Munich Dunkel and Munich Gold.

Together Paulaner and Hacker-Pschorr have approximately 1,000 years of brewing history. You will not be disappointed.

If beer is not your thing, Oktoberfest has that covered, offering Kleiner Feigling (FigVodka), Goldschläger, Jägermeister, mixed drinks, wine, soft drinks and more.

To help soak up some of those good times in most delicious fashion, check out German favorites including schnitzel, goulasch, Thüringer Bratwurst, leberkase, pretzels and potato salad as well as hamburgers, chicken tenders, french fries, roast beef and fabulous deserts.

A carnival area complete with new rides and games for children and adults alike will be set up on the far side of the grounds. The Carnival tradition started with the Oktoberfest in Munich, and the American German Club of the Palm Beaches is proud make it part of their festival.

Parents can purchase $25 wrist band pass access to unlimited rides for the kids.
