Everybody loves a sailor.

Some of us more often and with more enthusiasm than others, but don’t get all judge-y.

More Palm Beach society news here.

The members of the Palm Beach Council of the Navy League of the United States gathered for a reception to kick off its annual Navy Birthday Ball celebration.

The Welcome Back party took place Sept. 18 at Ta-boo restaurant on Worth Avenue.

The evening included cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, music and remarks from newly elected council president Jeff Leibowitz.

Leibowitz spoke about the group's new membership campaign, "Do More Than Just Say 'Thank You For Your Service.'"

Leibowitz also offered an update on the organization's major fundraiser, the 247th Navy Birthday Ball.

The birthday celebration will take place Oct. 15 at BallenIsles and will include a cocktail reception, dinner, and dancing to the Jeff Taylor Band.

Retired Rear Adm. Timothy Moon, chairman of the board of the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps, will be guest speaker and honoree

Proceeds help support the Sea Services; the youth programs; and local military men and women returning from active duty.

More than 30 council members, board members, and guests attended the reception.
