Valley City (BCSO)A Barnes County man is currently incarcerated in the Barnes County Correctional Center after an arrest made by Barnes County Deputies.
In a news release, Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin said Alexander Timothy Huus-Peterson was arrested around 11:00 PM on the night of October 4, 2022 after allegedly removing a United States flag from the Barnes County Courthouse grounds.

After his arrest, Huus-Peterson admitted to Sheriff’s Deputies that he had taken several other United States flags from the Courthouse grounds on other occasions and vandalized them.
Sheriff McClaflin is asking that if anyone is missing a flag to please contact the Barnes County Sheriff’s Office or the Valley City Police Department.

Sheriff McClaflin would also like to thank the Valley City Police Department Officers who assisted his Deputies in making this arrest.

Deputies say he admitted to taking several other U.S. flags from the Courthouse grounds on other occasions and vandalizing them.
