If you'd like to staycation during the holidays travel experts say now is the time to book.

When it comes to cities a new report ranks San Antonio among the most affordable places to stay per night.

“Obviously Fridays and Saturdays are very busy rates are up during the week is a little bit more reasonable,” Stacy Seaborn with Hotel Valencia said.

Seaborn said Hotel Valencia is already seeing people book for Thanksgiving, Christmas and even New Years.

“If you're planning on coming in, it's more than 30 days, go ahead and take advantage of the rates now because they are definitely going to go up,” Seaborn said.

Those rates are most reasonable in San Antonio. A study by cheap hotels shows out of 50 cities including Boston, New York City, Las Vegas and Austin the most affordable hotel rates are in San Antonio at an average of $107 a night.

“Inflation has forced a lot of people to tighten their belts in terms of where to go for vacation,” Economist Ray Perryman said.

Perryman said cheaper hotel prices could encourage travel to pick up especially if gas prices do not see a sharp increase.

“We are seeing some moderation in the rate of inflation at least right now. But but the holiday season is always busy travel time rooms tend to get booked that sort of that period of time. Look the rooms now lock in the prices that are there,” Perryman said.

That's the same advice Seaborn is giving.

“Typically people are booking anywhere from you know, seven that within seven days," Seaborn said.
