A thousand-mile journey driving from Michiana to Fort Myers, Florida.

A local church is partnering with a truck driver, hoping to fill a 53-foot semi-trailer with donations for people impacted by Hurricane Ian.

Saturday afternoon, Scott Sriver plans to begin his journey down to west Florida.

Until then, Nfluence Church is taking donations before he leaves and there is still plenty of room to fill on his truck.

Whether it's diapers, toiletries, cleaning products, or clothes.

“Really any of those things that you can think of that would be in need or hard to get a hold of, that's the kind of thing that we're bringing down to them,” said Krissy Miles, Nfluence Church Executive Director, Co-Pastor.

A local driver will travel down to a sister church of Nfluence in Ft. Myers to help the people that lost so much from Hurricane Ian.

“We're going to see how much we can fill up I mean 53 feet is a lot of room to put things,” said Scott Sriver, Truck Driver Heading to Florida.

Sriver and his fiancée had the idea of using his truck to bring down donations to Southwest Florida.

He's a member of Nfluence Church and reached out to church leadership for help.

“We're excited about being able to just be an extension of help down in the Florida area from right here in Michiana our hometown,” said Miles.

Nfluence church is collecting donations:

Daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Saturday 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. before they load up the truck and take off.

“I think seeing the people’s faces when we get down there that's the most rewarding part of it,” said Sriver.

The church says if you're not able to drop off items this week, there are other ways to help out.

“They can go to nfluencechurch.org and they can select hope for Florida from the drop-down menu and give a cash contribution there, 100% of the proceeds are going to help the victims of the hurricane,” said Miles.

A specific donation that's been requested: work gloves, to help keep people safe as they clean up and rebuild.
