Chief Wayne Smith traveled across the river Wednesday to meet the newly named Bossier City Police Chief.

On Sept. 21, Mayor Tommy Chandler announced Sergeant Daniel Haugen as the new Chief of Police. Haugen has been serving as the police chief for the last two weeks following the removal of former chief Chris Estess.

Oct. 5, both cities met to expand their working relationship between departments.

"Those who commit crimes know no boundaries so we must work together for the common goal of keeping our community safe," said Smith. "The river is just another place to fish, we are all one community.”

Mayor Tommy Chandler and Sherriff Julian Whittington were also present and expressed their delight in all of the law enforcement agencies coming together to make the community safer.
