EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – The Fall Festival has been going on for three days on Franklin Street and the West Side Nut Club’s Half Pot has hit another milestone.
After hitting $100,000 on the first day of the festival, it has hit $500,000 with three days left. Even with inflation. and both gas and grocery prices soaring, the Nut Club says the total and tickets sales are up. Some say inflation are effecting the half-pot.
“I think inflation is impacting everything right now, so definitely yes,” says Elizabeth Angermeier, who was buying tickets at the booth.
“You would think that it would not be as high with food and gas prices going up. I’ve noticed that some of the prices have gone up here since last year,” said Caasi Winfield, a volunteer at one of the booths.
Others say it the climbing total is just part of the Fall Festival Fun.
“I think everybody is just out here having a good time. The Fall Festival only happens once a year,” says Jon Yeager, a member of the West Side Nut Club.
Yeager says some buyers are traveling thousands of miles to the fall festival.
“I just met somebody from Arkansas this morning. They thought about coming down here and it was not just for the half-pot. They heard about the half-pot and food. They were excited to come out here,” he says.
Overall, Yeager says the numbers are all up and could break records.
“We are way up this year than in previous years, including last year, which is good, he says.
