SAN ANTONIO – A man is facing charges in connection to a hit-and-run that killed a mom during Mother’s Day weekend.

39-year-old Christopher Shad Sharp was charged with failure to stop and render aid resulting in death, failure to stop and render aid resulting in serious bodily injury, and evading arrest, records with the Bexar County Jail show. Sharp also had a parole violation.

According to affidavit records, on May 7, Sharp was driving his truck when he ran a red light at a Northwest Side intersection and struck a Ford Focus car that was turning from Alamo Downs Parkway.

44-year-old Jessica Harper and her passenger were both struck and rushed to the hospital. Harper later died from her injuries.

The affidavit states a responding officer’s dash cam video captured video of Sharp exiting his truck and fleeing the scene on foot. A witness at the crash site who had approached both vehicles was able to identify Sharp, according to records.

A warrant for Sharp’s arrest was issued on May 12, and he was arrested on Tuesday.
