Rage Against the Machine cancels entirety of 2023 tour, including Sioux Falls show

Following an announcement in 2020 and multiple postponements, Rage Against the Machine has canceled the entirety of its 2023 North American tour, including its Sioux Falls stop.

In a statement, Zack de la Rocha, the vocalist for the California-found rock band, announced the cancelation this week, because of a severe tear in his Achilles tendon. The statement went on to say only 8% of his tendon was intact.

"It's been almost three months since Chicago and I still look down at my leg in disbelief. Two years of waiting through the pandemic, hoping we would have an opening to be a band again and continue the work we started 30 some odd years ago," Rocha said. "Rehearsing, training, reconciling, working our way back to form. Then one and a half shows into it and my tendon tears. Felt like a sick joke the universe played on me. As I write this I remind myself it's just a bad circumstance. Just a (sic) up moment."

The Sioux Falls stop was scheduled for March 22, 2023, at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, along with Run the Jewels. In a tweet, Run the Jewels confirmed the news.

"We all wanted to keep going but not at the expense of anyone's health," El-P, a member of Run the Jewels said in a tweet.

Tickets bought through Ticketmaster or AXS will be automatically refunded to the original method of payment. Anyone who paid cash should contact the box office directly.
