Tennessee basketball, Lady Vols schedule open practice before football game vs Alabama

Tennessee basketball fans will get another chance to see the men's and women's teams at Thompson-Boling Arena before the season starts.

Tennessee announced Wednesday that both teams will host open scrimmages before the sold-out UT football game against Alabama at Neyland Stadium on Oct. 15 (3:30 p.m. ET, CBS). The Lady Vols will scrimmage from 10-11:30 a.m. and the Vols will from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Football game day parking passes will be required for lots on and around campus that day. Fans will be allowed in at Gate D at Thompson-Boling Arena as early as 9:30 a.m. and will be asked to watch from sections 100-109. Fans will not be allowed to watch at the floor level.

Both teams began practice last week and the Vols will play exhibition games against Michigan State and Gonzaga before the regular season begins against Tennessee Tech on Nov. 7. The Lady Vols will play Carson-Newman in an exhibition game Oct. 30 before starting the season at Ohio State on Nov. 8.

Fans also have a chance to see both teams at Market Square Madness on Oct. 13. The free event begins at 8 p.m. and players will compete in various skills challenges with fan contests throughout the night.
