RIPTA driver accused of peeping into homes on Providence's East Side
The Providence police say they've arrested a 33-year-old man who's accused of peeping into the windows of two homes in the city's East Side late Sunday night and early Monday morning.
The suspect, who works as a bus driver for the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority, was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct related to the window peeping, as well as attempted breaking and entering related to an incident on Hope Street two years ago, according to a police press release.
The police say the suspect was caught on home security cameras looking into first-floor windows on Williams Street late Sunday night and Wickenden Street early Monday morning.
In both incidents, the landlord and resident of the homes were alerted by the cameras, the police said. The police said they reviewed the videos and arrested the suspect a short time after the incident
The suspect was arraigned Tuesday in District Court, Providence.
RIPTA has put the driver on paid administrative leave pending further investigation, according to a spokeswoman.
