WVU Basketball G Kedrian Johnson Sees Improved Work Ethic with Team

West Virginia returning guard Kedrian “Keddy” Johnson feels there’s a big difference between last year’s team to this year’s. Johnson is entering his fifth year of college and has nine new teammates this season with WVU.

“The difference is how we bound off the court as well as on the court. Compared to last year it’s a big change of people being in the gym, working out, attitudes on the court,” Johnson said. “Our chemistry is a lot better early on.”

Last season, West Virginia finished 16-17, coming in ninth place in the loaded Big 12 Conference. The Mountaineers started out 13-2 but cooled off with multiple losing streaks in conference play. Johnson played in 32 games, starting in 30 of those at guard. The Texas native averaged 5.3 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.6 steals during his senior year for the Mountaineers.

Johnson, who has been most known for his defense at West Virginia, has worked on his offensive game during the offseason.

“I’m shooting it better, handling the ball better,” Johnson said. “I’m really doing what they brought me in to do my first year here.”

Johnson will now look forward to help lead this West Virginia team as the Mountaineers look tor return to the NCAA Tournament.
