The city and county of Los Angeles now observe, as of 2017, Indigenous Peoples Day in October instead of Columbus Day.
The federal government observes Columbus Day.
The state of California does not observe Columbus Day or Indigenous Peoples Day as a state holiday (www.sos.ca.gov/state-holidays).
Government offices – Los Angeles city and county and national – and libraries (Los Angeles Public Library, www.lapl.org/holiday-closures; Los Angeles County Public Library, lacountylibrary.org, are normally closed for Indigenous Peoples Day or Columbus Day holiday.
Superior courts in Los Angeles County observed Native American Day on Sept. 23 (www.lacourt.org/holiday/ui/index.aspx)
Los Angeles Unified School District schools are open on Monday, however (achieve.lausd.net/calendar).

Banks: Most banks are closed. Financial markets are open. Bond markets are closed.
