While our beloved waterfront restaurants in Sarasota, Anna Maria Island, Bradenton and Cortez Village suffered minimal damage from Hurricane Ian, things were much worse for the Venice area in south Sarasota County, and our neighbors in Englewood, which straddles the Sarasota and Charlotte county line.
Here's a look at waterfront restaurants in Osprey, Nokomis, Venice and Englewood, with information largely gathered from their social media sites noting if they're open, closed or damaged from the storm or subsequent flood waters. The restaurants are presented in alphabetical order. Fins At Sharky’s

Located next door to sister restaurant Sharky's by the base of the Venice Fishing Pier, Fins At Sharky's posted Tuesday afternoon that their full menu is now available. They also noted: "We are happy to announce that our internet is back up and running, along with our phones! Which means we can now accept credit cards and reservations. Located right across the street from Englewood Beach, the Lock ’N Key restaurant on Manasota Key announced Sunday: "We are extremely blessed that our buildings are standing. We are still without power and water." On Monday, they updated their customers that they had "been working all day" but were still without power and water and that they "can’t wait to see you ALL when things get up and running." Located on the Intracoastal Waterway at the Albee Road Bridge connecting Casey Key to Nokomis and one of the oldest restaurants in Sarasota County, Pelican Alley co-owner Renee Adorna posted to Facebook on Monday that "we are hoping to get reopened by Thursday. She noted "as long as everything goes smoothly and we can get our food order, etc. As of now we still have no internet so our phones and computers don’t work. It’ll be cash only til we get service." Pop’s Sunset Grill

Located by the Albee Road Bridge connecting Casey Key to Nokomis and originally opened as Urbanek’s Fish Camp in 1954, Pop's announced Saturday that "after further inspection we have to replace all of the thatching on the roof of Pop’s Tiki and repair the roof of the south bar in Pop’s Courtyard. The restaurant noted that the work is scheduled to begin this week and that their goal is to be "open for business next Saturday, October 8th." This Manasota Key spot announced Sunday that that their buildings were standing and On Monday noted they had power but still no water. "We want to thank everyone for all the love and support," the restaurant posted Monday. "We’ve had texts and calls from our friends near & far. Sharky’s On the Pier

Rich in Old Florida history, Snook Haven was reportedly discovered by smugglers during Prohibition and for nearly a decade has been part of the Venice Pier Group, which also owns Sharky’s on the Pier and Fins at Sharky’s as well as manages Siesta Beach's concessions. Alas, Snook Haven took a hard hit from Hurricane Ian. "We are working (closley) with Sarasota County and will keep you posted on the status of the restaurant as we wait for the extremely high levels of the Myakka River to lower," Snook Haven posted on Tuesday afternoon.
