Marking 14 years since its debut, the highly anticipated bi-annual event will celebrate its 25th installment by welcoming residents and visitors to indulge in the city’s upbeat culture and diverse culinary scene across all local participating restaurants.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate the return of New Haven Restaurant Week this fall,” said Bruno Baggetta, Director for Market New Haven, Inc. “As the first ever restaurant week in Connecticut, the event is truly a testament to the commitment of the restaurant community in our city. We also want to express our appreciation to Citizens for their unwavering support that has continued to lift our independently owned participating restaurants for 14 years and counting.”

“Citizens is honored to once again be the presenting sponsor of New Haven Restaurant Week.” said Lisa Maass, Citizens Connecticut State President. “This event brings together our community to highlight the many incredible restaurants we are so lucky to have in New Haven while generating economic activity for the city and raising awareness around hunger in our communities through our partnership with Connecticut FoodShare.”

Connecticut Foodshare, a food bank serving all of Connecticut and member of the national Feeding America network, has been the official charity of New Haven Restaurant Week since 2009. To date, participating restaurants have raised over $50,000 to combat hunger in New Haven and across the state, with nearly $5k being contributed this year alone from local restaurants.

“In Connecticut, nearly 400,000 people, including 1 in 8 children, are struggling with food insecurity. We are grateful to the community for supporting our vision of a thriving community free of hunger. A special thank you to Market New Haven, Inc., Citizens and all participating restaurants for this very generous donation. These funds will help us provide 10,000 meals to our neighbors in need,” said Jason Jakubowski, President and CEO of Connecticut Foodshare.

After indulging in New Haven’s culinary scene, visitors and residents alike can also explore other attractions and happenings in downtown this fall. Following an afternoon lunch, visitors can feed their art history appetite by wandering the galleries at Yale University Art Gallery and Yale Center for British Art. Visitors can also opt to take a stroll along the streets of downtown and hop into one of the many local boutiques for some retail therapy. As a perfect complement to dinner, catch a show like My Fair Lady at The Shubert from October 19 – 22 or Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf at Yale Repertory Theatre running through until October 29.

The Shops at Yale will offer free 2-hour parking with a same-day purchase of $50 or more from participating restaurants at lots located at 255 Crown Street (behind Pacifico and South Bay) and 56 Broadway (across from J.Crew). Park New Haven will offer a $5 parking rate during lunch in the Crown Street and Temple Street Garages. Offer is applicable October 16 – 29 between 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Due to the promotion’s appeal and high-demand year-over-year, patrons are strongly encouraged to make reservations in advance and check restaurants’ websites for exact pricing and menus.
