UPDATE: Captain Flagg with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office told Dayton 24/7 Now's Bryn Caswell that an 8-year-old and a 5-year-old were struck by a van after getting off of their school bus on Tuesday afternoon.

"We were dispatched out here just before 4 o'clock this afternoon on the report of a pedestrian strike. Deputies arrived at the scene and found that two juveniles had been crossing the street and had been struck by a westbound van," said Captain Flagg.

Captain Flagg says the children were transported from the scene to Children's Medical Center by Harrison Township. He says they are both listed as stable, with non life threatening injuries.

The juveniles are now being scanned and evaluated at the hospital.

The vehicle originally left the scene, according to Captain Flagg, but the driver later returned.

"We have made contact with the driver, he is cooperating with us at this point and had actually returned to the scene on foot," said Captain Flagg.

The suspect's name will not be released at this time but he will be facing charges.
